It depends. Redfish POS contains all that is needed to be up and running. However NetEpay is used for credit card processing. The cost of NetEpay will vary greatly depending on the merchant service provider you choose.
8. What are the different price levels?
All levels of Redfish come standard with ALL features. Price levels are determined based on the number of computer stations that will be connected to the database at one time. Once installed on a station, there is no limit to the number of servers that can be cashed in. Additional stations can be purchased initially or added later as your business grows.

11. Do I need to be online?
No, you do not need to be online to use Redfish POS. However, Redfish does use the internet to check for updates and to check for licesning. So an occasional internet connection is required. If you are using the credit card functionality, you will need some sort of internet connection. This connection can be anything at all including modem. Additionally, to receive free software updates you will need an Internet connection.
12. Does Redfish POS run credit cards?
Absolutely! Redfish POS will work with almost any processor. Chase Paymentech, Evo, SecureNet, Mercury, Heartland, First Data, Sterling, MPS, Worldpay and more. It also uses End to End data encryption at the point of swiping the card which protects the merchant and its customers from fraudulent activities.
13. Do you recommend a specific processor?
Yes. We have been working with quite a few processors and found some to be much more willing to get your business. This means better rates and lower setup costs for you. Redfish POS recommends Mercury, EVO and Heartland Payments Systems
14. How do I get a merchant account?
Getting a point of sale merchant account is simple. You can simply fill out this form and we will put you in touch with the right people.
15. I already have an existing credit card processor, what do I do?
Transferring over your existing merchant account to the built in processing is simple. You can contact you provider directly or you can simply fill out this form and we will put you in touch with the right people.
16. Can I use my own credit card terminal?
Yes, you can use your own credit card terminal. However, there are many integrated credit card features that you will not be able to take advantage of using. For example, pre-authorizations, terminal reporting, gift cards and batching are only available through the built in processing. Additionally, you will have to run each transaction on your terminal, and then close out each transaction to a house account made for your external processor. Redfish works with almost any processor so we see very little point in going this route.
17. Does Redfish POS support gift cards?
No. Currently gift cards are not supported. At one time Redfish did have Gift Card capabilties but with the new OOS credit card integration, gift cards abilities had to be put on hold. This will be addressed in the near future.

No, the server portion of Redfish POS only needs to be installed on one computer on the network. You can install the server on any machine, however when sharing data you’ll want all the stations to point to one computer designated as the database server. Although the database server portion can be run from any computer on the network, it is recommended that you run it from a back office computer and not a waitstaff workstation. Back office computers tend to have more power that will show better performance.
20. Do I need to purchase a client for my back office computer?
Yes. Each computer that will run Redfish POS will need to have its own license.
21. I have multiple stations, how should I setup my network?
To setup a Windows network to be able to share a Redfish database, you want to do a few things. First, make sure all computers are on the same workgroup. Second, setup all the computers with the same login name and password and make sure those accounts have administrative rights. Third, make sure you are not running any antivirus programs that would block your computers from seeing SQL Server on the shared database computer. Additionally one computer should be dedicated as the print server. This is usually the same as the server computer. All printers installed on the print server computer should be shared printers.
22. How do I exit Redfish POS?
Use the login code 0000 on the login screen to exit the software.
